WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Freshman center Nic Serre notched a career-high five points and linemates Garrett Brougham and Tim Fisher scored two goals apiece, leading Army to its third straight win, 6-3 over visiting Connecticut on Saturday night at Tate Rink.

The Fisher-Serre-Brougham line combined for 14 points (five goals and nine assists) as Army upped its season record to 3-5-1. Connecticut has lost three of its last four and fell to 2-4-0 on the year.

Connecticut senior Marc Busenburg opened up the scoring nine minutes into the first period on assists from sophomore Evan Schwarz and junior Michael Goldkind.

But trailing 1-0 after one, Army exploded for three goals in the second period, two coming on the power play. Brougham, a junior who entered the game with two career goals in 15 games, tallied the Cadets' first two scores of the night. At 5:49 of the second period he cleaned up a loose puck in front of the net, then he scored again on virtually the same play at 11:55. Fisher and Serre assisted on both goals.

In the final five minutes of the period, Fisher scored on the power play from Serre and Josh Morino. Fisher also scored a fourth unanswered goal 9:09 into the third.

Connecticut hurt itself with penalties in the second period. The Huskies were whistled for six infractions in the period, including a major penalty and game disqualification for spearing by Kevin Connell. Brougham's first goal came during that five-minute power play.

Ciro Longobardi cut it to 4-2 at 15:06 of the third when his wrist shot slipped past Army goalie Scott Hamilton and Hamilton knocked the puck back into the net. But just 27 seconds later, Serre gave the Cadets a three-goal lead once again when he finished off a two-on-one break with Fisher. It was Serre's first collegiate goal.

Connecticut pulled its goalie, sophomore John Chain, and gained its final goal of the evening as senior Michael Narotski converted a pass from freshman Travis Wood to find the back of the net on the six-on-five play at the 16:41 mark. With Chain still out of the net, Morino tallied the Cadets' last goal on an empty-netter.

On Army's red-hot line, Serre finished with a goal and four assists, Fisher had two goals and three assists, and Brougham logged two goals and two assists.

Hamilton stopped 23 of 26 shots to improve to 3-1-1 on the season. John Chain made 31 saves for the Huskies, who were outshot 37-26 in the contest.

Army was two of seven on the power play, while Connecticut was scoreless in three man-up tries.

For the second straight night Army lost a key forward to an injury. Nathan Mayfield, who had a goal and two assists in the Cadets' 6-1 victory over Manhattanville on Friday night, went down with a knee injury in the second period and did not return. He is out indefinitely. Jon Toftey and Mike Fairman, Army's leading scorer with eight goals, were injured on Friday and did not dress against Connecticut.

Army returns to action on Tuesday at Sacred Heart, while the Huskies travel to Massachusetts next Friday.
