Findlay, OH -- Jonathan Day (North York, ONT) scored two goals, including the game-winner, to lead RIT over the host Findlay Oilers, 6-3. The Tigers broke the game open with three unanswered goals in the third period.

Findlay outplayed RIT for much of the first period, taking a quick 1-0 lead on a goal from senior defenseman Rob Salomonson (Farmingham Hills, MI). Salomonson's shot from the high slot beat Tiger goaltender Tyler Euverman (Surrey, BC) through a screen.

The Tigers were able to kill off two full minutes of five-on-three midway through the first, and then tallied a short time later to tie the score at one. On a power play with 1:31 left in the period, Derrick Hahn (Elmira, ONT) found Pete Bournazakis (Toronto, ONT) sneaking in on the far post. Bournazakis tapped Hahn's pass past Findlay netminder Jamie VandeSpyker (Campbellville, ONT), who was making his first start of the season.

Hahn opened the scoring in the second period with a power-play goal at 5:35. The Tigers went on the man advantage again a minute later, but this time it was the Oilers who would tally on a great effort by Jason Maxwell (North Vancouver, BC). Maxwell beat two Tigers to a loose puck, and then on a breakaway backhanded the puck past Euverman.

The Oilers took their second and final lead of the game at 11:41 of the second on a power-play goal by junior Ben Patey (Sarnia, ONT), whose shot deflected in off Euverman's stick.

RIT tied the game just 1:10 later on a goal from Day off a nifty feed from Bournazakis. Bournazakis skated into the slot and put a backhand onto the stick of Day, who waited out VandeSpyker and scored on the backhand.

Day scored the game-winner at 12:00 of the third on the power play, off a feed from Hahn. The Tigers put the game away with two more goals in the third. Errol McDonald Toronto, ONT) scored his second of the season, as he one-timed a pass from Mike Bournazakis (Toronto, ONT). Mike Bournazakis also assisted on the last RIT goal, scored by Scott Jones (Holland Landing, ONT) at 18:45.

RIT went three for seven on the power play, while Findlay was just one for nine. "Our special teams were the difference tonight," said RIT head coach Wayne Wilson. "I thought our power play was the best so far this season, and while I don't like to see them, we continue to kill off those five-on-threes." RIT has not allowed a goal on five five-on-three penalty kills so far this season.

"I thought we were flat in the first period," said Wilson. "But our fourth line was good all night, and set the example for the rest of our players."

Tyler Euverman won his fourth game of the season, making 27 saves. VandeSpyker made 30 saves in a losing effort for the Oilers.

The teams have now split this season, with RIT winning tonight and the Oilers triumphing 5-3 back on October 22nd in the semifinals of the Fredonia Tournament.

The teams will play for the final time this season tonight at Findlay.
