Pavlatos Reaches Milestone In Bemidji Shutout

BEMIDJI, MN -- Bemidji State goaltender Adam Pavlatos recorded his 50th career win and fifth career shutout as the Beavers blanked Army 3-0 before 1,825 fans at John Glas Fieldhouse.

Pavlatos, 2-0 this season and 50-21-3 overall, stopped 24 shots.

Freshmen continued the scoring for the Beavers, starting with Clay Simmons' goal at 4:31 of the first period on an assist from freshman Jeff McGill.

Senior captain Calvin Chartrand pushed the Beaver lead to 2-0 on a power-play goal at 6:20 of the second period after tipping freshman Stefan Bjork's shot on a pass from freshman Daryl Bat. The BSU power play snapped a streak of 44 straight penalty kills by Army dating back to last season.

Freshman Brad Johnson scored his second goal of the series at 14:48 of the third period on assists from sophomores Jake Searles and Dale Birkley.

Army goaltender Scott Hamilton stopped 37 of 40 shots, including three spectacular saves on Beaver breakaways.

The Beavers (2-0, 2-0 CHA), who picked up eight points in the CHA standings this weekend, travel to St. Cloud State Saturday and Sunday. The Cadets (0-2, 0-2 CHA) travel to the Q Cup Friday and Saturday.
